  • Founder & Co-CEO

    David Sutphen is a multidimensional leader who has spent his career at the intersection of business, government, and civil society. He combines a gift for the written word, an extensive network, creativity, and critical thinking to help clients generate ideas, solve problems, and get things done.

    Before the launch of Jasper Advisors, Sutphen was Chief Strategy & Engagement Officer at 2U, (Nasdaq: TWOU), the parent company of edX, where he reported to the Co-Founder & CEO. Outside of Jasper, he serves as an independent director of Teaching Strategies, a KKR portfolio company, and sits on the boards of numerous non-profits, including the US Soccer Foundation, GetSchooled, the CityBridge Foundation, and the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan.

    Sutphen joined 2U from Brunswick where he was a Partner for eight years and head of the firm’s Washington DC office. A lawyer by training, he began his career in civil rights before practicing law at Covington & Burling and entering politics. He worked as Chief of Staff to Congressman Harold Ford Jr. and Judiciary Committee General Counsel to the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy. After nearly a decade on Capitol Hill, he moved into the media and entertainment industry, working as a senior lobbyist for the Recording Industry Association of America and Viacom.

    He is an honors graduate and former trustee of Amherst College, where he played varsity soccer and ran track. Sutphen earned his law degree from the University of Michigan, where he served on the Editorial Board of the Law Review, before clerking on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 3rd Circuit. He lives in Washington DC with his son Austin.

    Julie Andreeff Jensen is a battle-tested, mission-oriented advisor and executive. Founders, CEOs, elected leaders, owners and athletes, and prominent individuals have relied upon her judgment, energy, and depth of experience in launching inspiring projects and navigating challenging issues and periods of significant change.

    Before founding Jasper, Julie worked at the highest levels of business, sports, and politics. Julie worked in the National Football League as a Senior Vice President of the Washington Football Team. As a direct report to the President and member of the executive leadership, she led the communications and public affairs functions during the team’s rebrand and a period of significant transition. Before the NFL, Julie served as the first Chief Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer at Citadel, where she built the corporate affairs function and oversaw the firm’s reputation and brand strategy.

    Julie joined Citadel from Brunswick where she was a partner. During her eight years at the firm, she advised Fortune 500 companies and CEOs on critical business issues including reputation management. Julie started her career in politics working on Capitol Hill as an aide to the late Senator Edward M. Kennedy and served in senior roles on multiple presidential and congressional campaigns.

    Julie received her undergraduate and law degrees from American University. She was a four-year member and captain of the women's Division I championship swim team and served as an assistant coach for the team after graduating while she attended law school. She currently serves on the Board of Advisors for American University's Top 10 nationally ranked School of Public Affairs.

    Julie is passionate about mentoring women in business, politics, and sports. She grew up in Buffalo, New York and is a proud and loyal Buffalo Bills fan.

  • Senior Vice President

    Ashley Whitlock has more than 15 years of experience helping individuals and organizations build and implement reputation-enhancing communications strategies.

    As Senior Vice President at Jasper Advisors, Ashley helps to lead the firm’s growing sports practice, working alongside Founders and Co-CEOs Julie Andreeff Jensen and David Sutphen to provide strategic communications and reputation counsel to individuals, teams, and brands.

    Ashley worked in the National Football League where she led internal, business and executive communications for the Washington Commanders. In this role she also oversaw the communications campaign supporting the rollout of the team’s new name and identity and the development of the franchise’s first corporate communications function, as well as serving as a media spokesperson.

    Previously, Ashley worked with Harvard’s Belfer Center to design and teach crisis communications strategies for election officials nationwide, while also providing strategic guidance for utilizing traditional and social media to educate voters and provide timely, correct voter information in advanced of the 2020 general election.

    Ashley began her career at Edelman Public Relations where she provided executive-level strategic communications guidance and led communications campaigns for Fortune 500 companies, iconic brands, nonprofit organizations and corporate philanthropies.

    Ashley earned her Master in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and her Bachelor of Business Administration from Mercer University. She is a Pat Tillman Foundation Scholar and is actively involved in organizations and causes supporting U.S. veterans and military families.

    In her role as an Associate at Jasper Advisors, Jackie monitors and analyzes client media coverage across various platforms, crafts compelling pitches and briefs, and fosters strong client relationships. She is responsible for managing client deliverables and supporting her team members in achieving their objectives.

    Before joining Jasper Advisors, Jackie was a legislative intern for Virginia Delegate Suhas Subramanyam during the 2023 Virginia General Assembly Session. Additionally, Jackie served as a government relations fellow for Match Group, the largest global portfolio of popular online dating services. In this role, she accompanied the lobbying team in advocating tirelessly for anti-trust legislation on Capitol Hill.

    Jackie graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Policy. During her undergrad, she showcased her commitment to community engagement, serving as a service learning teaching assistant and experiential learning student fellow. Jackie routinely met with the University's Provost, deans, and professors to discuss the transformative impact community engagement had on both local communities and the holistic student experience.

    Jackie has a deep appreciation for the intersection of sports, government, politics, and media in the dynamic environment at Jasper Advisors. She enjoys attending any and all sports games, especially in the company of friends and family, and loves to spend time outside.

    Chynna Anthony graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations.

    As Executive Assistant at Jasper Advisors, Chynna supports the firm's leadership and oversees administrative responsibilities.

    Before this role, Chynna interned with the Washington Wizards in the marketing department and has also worked with Save the Children US, BerlinRosen, and Mediabrands.

    Originally from Chicago, Chynna now resides in DC. In her free time, she enjoys meeting new people, traveling, trying new foods, and reading.
